I find this news article very interesting.
Fox News is reporting that the Secret Service caught a Mexican official, Rafael Quintero Curiel, trying to steal the BlackBerries of the attendees of the North American Leaders summit that is currently taking place in New Orleans.
It is well-known among intelligence officials that cell phones and such devices can be used to eavesdrop. If you have a cell phone nearby, you have a channel through which nosy spooks can listen in to your conversations.
Hence, the requirement that the cell phones be left outside the meeting.
Everyone entering the room was required to leave his or her cell phone, BlackBerry and other such devices on the table, a common practice when high-level meetings are held. American officials discovered their missing belongings when they were leaving the session. The question is, why are they so worried about the truth getting out regarding what they are discussing at the New Orleans summit? Don't they keep telling us we live in a "democracy"? If that means we have a vote, then why are they so worried about shutting the people out of the process?
Maybe the man was a petty thief. But I tend to believe that the Mexicans don't like the North American Union idea any better than their American counterparts. Perhaps I'm reading too much into this, but it sounds to me like this man might have been attempting to get the word out on what is really happening behind closed doors, as the traitors who lead the three North American countries negotiate away our national sovereignty in favor of the western version of the EU.
