And it's all being done to protect you and preserve your liberty.
As C.S. Lewis said, "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive."
And if you think that this is unique to New Jersey, then you'd better check your state legislature, ladies and gentlemen. Because one thing that I've learned is that they have states that they use to test the waters. New Jersey seems to be one of them. California is another. When they successfully pass it there, they move on to other states, quietly. But often they will attempt to get the same bill passed in several or all the states simultaneously.
This is because federal legislation — contrary to what we are led to believe by the propagandists in the media — does not apply to the states, unless the states pass implementing legislation. If you would like to know more about this, see our States Rights section of the Sweet Liberty site.
These noose-tightening measures are being passed at a state level. So you can forget about the U.S.A. Patriot Act, which was written before September 11th, so that it could be all ready to be passed when the planes hit the towers. The real battles are in the state legislatures.
And don't count on your local news rag, or TV/Radio broadcast station to report on what is being passed. If they even mention it, they won't go into enough detail for you to know just how bad the measure really is. Scour your state legislative website. Get to know the people in your representative's, and your Senator's offices. Tell them to be on the lookout for a bill like this and ask them to notify you. Then keep looking for bills like this to pop up in your state.
William White once said, "Liberty is the only thing you cannot have unless you are willing to give it to others."
If you're unwilling to do defend liberty for yourself, then do it for posterity. Nothing is more important! Nothing!
