He's not very 'fonda' Honoi Jane

By Darren Weeks

A Missouri man has been arrested for disorderly conduct, stemming from an incident in which he spit tobacco juice in the face of Jane Fonda.

The controversial actress turned author was making an appearance on a book signing tour. Fonda is promoting her book, My Life So Far, in which she is said to have covered a wide range of issues, including her 1972 trip to Hanoi to protest the Vietnam War.

Michael A. Smith, a Vietnam veteran, stood in line as if waiting for Fonda to sign her book. He said he normally doesn't chew tobacco, but he made an exception on Tuesday.

About getting arrested, he told the Kansas City Star, "I consider it a debt of honor. She spit in our faces for 37 years. It was absolutely worth it. There are a lot of veterans who would love to do what I did."
